Preparatory Course Responsibilities

  • You must begin taking your college preparatory course(s) your first semester at UCF. All preparatory course work must be completed within the first three semesters of enrollment at UCF (including summer semesters).
  • Failure to enroll in a preparatory course(s) could result in your UCF courses being administratively dropped by your academic advisor at SARC.
  • You must complete all preparatory course(s) with at least a "C" (2.0) average and pass any state competency exams to advance to the next preparatory course or enroll in college level courses.
  • Once you begin a preparatory course in math, you must continue to enroll in preparatory math courses until you complete the preparatory math sequence.

Preparatory Course Enrollment Procedures

  • UCF has established a partnership with Valencia Community College (VCC) to offer college preparatory courses on the UCF main campus. While the courses are held at UCF they are taught by VCC instructors, therefore tuition and fees must be paid to VCC by students taking college preparatory courses.
    1. To enroll you will need to submit a completed Valencia Community College (VCC) registration packet consisting of a VCC admissions application, UCF transient student form and VCC $35 application fee. Only checks and debit cards are acceptable forms of payment for the $35 application fee.
    2. Once all paperwork is completed, you will enroll for your VCC prep course via your MyUCF system at registration on Day 2 of Orientation.
    3. You will be responsible for viewing/printing your UCF fee invoice (which will include your VCC prep course) from your MyUCF and for paying tuition and fees associated with your preparatory course(s) to VCC by the due date on your UCF Fee Invoice (this includes tuition for the course and a separate $3 transcript fee). Failure to pay for preparatory courses by the due date will result in your UCF courses being dropped.

Financial Assistance

  • UCF financial aid award (scholarships, grants, loans) can cover the cost of your preparatory course(s).
  • Florida Bright Futures does not cover the cost of preparatory courses.
  • Florida Prepaid can be used to pay for preparatory courses; however you must present a copy of your Florida Prepaid card by August 1, 2009 to the VCC Business Office for Florida Prepaid to be billed.

You are strongly advised to discuss your financial aid award enrollment requirements with the UCF Financial Assistance Office (407) 823-2827 prior to the add/drop deadline to ensure you are enrolled in the minimum credit hours needed to receive your aid.
SARC is not responsible for the loss of any financial aid award due to a lack of UCF credit hours.

Tuition

Tuition and fees for the 2009-2010 academic year will be available after July 1, 2009. Check Atlas for detailed fee information.
